folie du matcha
Folie du Matcha is a fusion café that blends the elegance of French pastries with the vibrant, earthy flavors of matcha. The logo features the brand name set in an elegant cursive typeface, paired with small supporting illustrations to reflect the fusion of matcha and French pâtisserie.
Folie du Matcha’s branding uses a palette of dark forest green and soft sand tones to create a refined, welcoming feel. These earthy colors reflect the natural qualities of matcha. The menu and storefront take a fully illustrative approach, with each menu item featuring a digital illustration to contrast the type-heavy logo.
The cafe’s socials were designed to maintain a sense of discovery, keeping the in-person experience special. The site and socials follow the same color palette and themes. The advertising was designed mostly through experimentation in Illustrator, which led to the slogan ‘afamée? (hungry?)’. This short, playful phrase reflects the cafe’s purpose of satisfying hunger, while also referencing the French influence of Folie du Matcha.
Folie du matcha’s merchandise was designed to avoid feeling overly branded or literal. Instead, the focus was on creating pieces that align with the brand’s identity while remaining subtle, distinctive, and suitable for everyday, casual use. It also includes a branded matcha powder, for when you’re unable to visit in-store.
